On behalf of employer: Offroadcode
We require a good all round internet developer who loves to solve problems and come up with smart work-a-rounds to tricky problems.
You need to be:
- happy using a good text editor rather than hiding behind Dream Weaver’s aprons strings.
- capable of making things look good (to web standards) as well we making them work.
- unafraid to ask questions
- brave enough to go the long way around to get the job done right
- smart enough to spot the safe short cuts to bring a project in on time.
Knowledge of most of the following (ie you have actually used/done/know about):
- ASP.Net (using C#)
- OOP
- Java Script (OO Java Script, Prototype, MooTools, Ajax as well as standard form validation stuff etc.)
- ASP (preferably using Jscript)
- XML
- XHTML
- CSS
- FTP, VNC, IIS Admin etc.
- Fireworks/Photoshop or similar.
Awareness of (ie you have read up on at least and preferably had a play with):
- Unit Testing
- Agile Methods
- Version Control using Subversion
- Ruby
- Ruby on Rails (Apache, Lighttp etc.)
- Regular Expressions
- Web Standards
- Continuous Integration (Build Servers)
We will expect to see code examples and a portfolio of previous work (graduates: old university projects will be acceptable) from any candidate who applies.
Based in a small office in a village setting by the canal you will work directly with the Managing Director in this small tight team. Ideally you'll be a milky tea drinker, although coffee drinkers will be accepted!
