We need to fill the position of Head of Development at KMP. The role requires a multi-skilled individual with considerable experience in the Internet industry.
The successful candidate will be an experienced individual able to think “outside the box” to find innovative solutions to business problems whilst being aware of commercial pressures to select the best solution to meet both technical and budget requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities
Technical delivery
- In-house product development
- Client projects
- System architecture and design
- Manage coding practices
- Overseeing IT systems and operations
- Quality assurance

Technical Team Management:
- Procedures
- Staff Mentoring
- Appraisals

Pre and Post-sale support:
- Project analysis, scoping and costing
- Presentations and pitch work
- Client technical support management

Management duties:
- Measurement and reporting on productivity and quality levels
- Internal processes development
- Strategic direction of technology policies

Research and Development
- New product and technology evaluation
- Management of in house product development

Skills Required
The successful individual will need to posses the following experience and skills:

General
* Experience in developing rich Internet solutions, with particular emphasis on B2C or consumer-led solutions.
* Thorough knowledge of web technologies and their dependencies in general, for example:
* Networking and Internet protocols
* Client-side technologies: HTML, Javascript, CSS, AJAX, XML, SMTP/POP3, FTP
* Delivery to alternative devices such as PDAs, mobile phones etc
* Accessibility, compliance, DDA etc
* Security (authentication, SSL, encryption, DPA etc)
* SEO

Specific knowledge of developing solutions based on at least some of the following, (with Microsoft platforms being preferred):
* Microsoft.Net to at least version 2 of the framework, both ASP and conventional desktop/service apps
* C#
* Microsoft SQL Server to version 2005
* Java
* IBM DB2
* Lotus Notes/Domino

Experience of solutions based around content management systems (CMS)

Experience of good development practices such as:
* Developing/defining/adhering to coding conventions
* Strong OO development practices
* Source control and versioning

Experience of interacting with clients
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Good written and oral communication skills
Appreciation of servers and other hardware requirements, network topologies etc

Remuneration
The role of Head of Development at KMP is a “director designate” position and will command a competitive remuneration package consisting of a basic salary plus bonus commensurate with experience.
